SEPTEMBER - Changbal Tech Summit 2022 & more!

On September 24, 2022, LG AI Research participated in the 7th Changbal Tech Summit (CTS 2022)!
Changbal is an organization of Korean IT professionals in Northwest America. This year’s CTS had various presentation sessions with experts from various companies such as Google, NVIDIA and META under the theme of “New Normal”. Our members left Korea for the U.S. business trip with such excitement as it was our first time participating!
(Kyunghoon Bae, Head of LG AI Research is giving an intro session!)
Even the Head of LG AI Research, Kyunghoon Bae flew all the way from Korea to give a presentation regarding LG AI Research and network with all the amazing talents! Kyunghoon explained how AI technology is changing our lives innovatively through actual research cases and showed a feasible future through our super-giant AI model, EXONE, solving difficult problems as well as Tilda, our AI Artist that debuted in NYFW, and our collaboration with the Parsons Design School on using AI in the creative field!
(Moontae’s Presentation session!)
(Everyone was paying their utmost attention)
The lab leader of our Fundamental Research Lab, Moontae Lee gave a presentation on “Large-models Are Coming: Deep Dive into the New AI Paradigm”,
Moontae examined the mathematical, probabilistic and algorithmic basic principles that make up language models. He shared insights on technical points that have caused major innovations along with the unique characteristics of of the super-giant language models, versatile and synthetic characteristics and explained why LG is focusing on the super-giant AI model research. Additionally, he spoke about the issues that need to be looked at in order to create a stronger super-giant model.
After the presentation sessions, we had a prize draw event that everyone has been waiting for! LG UHD TV, sponsored by LG was the hottest prize out of all! Kyung Hoon raised the tension by calling only the first digit of the lottery number and made everyone laugh with his witty process
(From People Unit, Pete Cho, Hailey Jeong and Emma Oh participated!)
On site, our Talent Relations Team operated a recruitment booth, answering everyone’s questions on our Research Center along with sharing insight on our research. Participants showed great interest not only for the Korea office, but also our newly opened Ann Arbor Research Center in the U.S. We had such a good time sharing what we are all about from our excellent research culture to our super-giant AI Model, EXAONE!
Prior to participating in the CTS 2022, the Talent Relations Team visited Purdue University, UIUC, and the University of Michigan to hold recruitment consultation sessions with the graduate school students. We were super thankful for the interest that the students showed especially for our Ann Arbor Center! We are all looking forward to the future of LG AI Research not only in South Korea, but also in the U.S.
